Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information iZ Technologies ("we", "us") collects through the Recipiz mobile app (the "App"), how we use and share it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your email address and password (stored only as a secure hash), or, if you sign in with Google or Apple, the email address and account identifier they share with us (with Apple, this may be a private relay address if you chose to hide your email). If you sign in with Apple, we also keep a token from Apple so that we can revoke the App's access to your Apple account when you delete your account. We also store a nickname (taken from your email, or generated for you) and, if you add one, a profile photo.
- Setup answers: during setup you tell us your cooking goals, how much time you like to spend cooking, how you heard about Recipiz and, optionally, a referral code.
- Your content: recipes (titles, ingredients, steps, photos, servings), cookbooks, tags, ratings, notes, whether you've cooked a recipe, and your grocery list.
- Imports: text you paste to import a recipe, and links to TikTok or Instagram posts you share to the App.
Information collected automatically
- Device information: a random install identifier the App creates on first launch, your device platform (iOS or Android), whether you allowed notifications, and when the App last connected.
- Subscription information: if you subscribe, your plan, its status (for example trial, active or cancelled), the store you bought it in, and its renewal and expiry dates. Payments are handled by Apple or Google; we never receive your payment card details.
We do not use advertising identifiers, show ads, or use third-party analytics or tracking tools, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
2. How we use it
- To provide the App: save and show your recipes, cookbooks and grocery lists.
- To verify your email address, by emailing you a one-time code when you sign up with email.
- To import recipes: read the text or social post you share and turn it into a recipe.
- To estimate nutrition for Premium subscribers.
- To manage subscriptions: confirm purchases, unlock Premium and apply the free plan's import limit.
- To send the notifications you allowed, such as cooking reminders and a reminder before your free trial ends. The trial reminder is scheduled on your device.
- To keep the App secure, prevent abuse, fix problems and meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.
3. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the service providers that help us run the App, only what they need to do so, and under contracts that require them to protect it:
| Provider | What for | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| OpenAI or Anthropic | Reading imported recipes and estimating nutrition | The recipe text, post caption or transcript being read, or a recipe's ingredients and servings |
| Scrape Creators | Fetching the TikTok or Instagram post you share | The link to the public post |
| RevenueCat | Managing subscriptions | Your Recipiz user identifier and your App Store or Google Play purchase records |
| SendGrid (Twilio) | Sending the email that verifies your address | Your email address and the verification code |
| Apple and Google | Processing purchases, sign-in with Google and Apple, and delivering the App | What their stores and services collect under their own privacy policies |
| Cloud hosting providers | Storing the App's data and photos | The data described in this policy |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of the App (in which case this policy continues to apply to it).
4. Where it is processed
We are based in Canada. Our service providers may process and store information in other countries, including the United States, where it may be accessible to authorities under local law.
5. How long we keep it
- We keep your account and content until you delete your account.
- When you delete your account in the App (My account → Delete account), we delete your account, recipes, cookbooks, grocery list, setup answers and photos from our systems, and ask RevenueCat to delete your subscription customer record. If you signed in with Apple, we also revoke the App's access to your Apple account. Copies may remain in backups for a limited time before being overwritten.
- Apple and Google keep their own purchase records under their policies. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription; cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings.
6. Your choices and rights
- Access and correction: you can see and edit most of your information in the App. You can also ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it.
- Deletion: delete your account in the App at any time, or ask us to.
- Notifications: turn them off at any time in your device settings.
- Withdrawing consent: you can withdraw your consent to our use of your information, subject to legal or contractual limits. Some features may then stop working.
Depending on where you live, you may have other rights under local law, for example under the GDPR in the European Union or state laws in the United States. Contact us to exercise them. We'll respond within 30 days.
7. Security
We protect your information with safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity, including encrypted connections, hashed passwords and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
The App is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

We may update this policy. We'll change the effective date above and, for material changes, tell you in the App before they take effect.
